You Can’t Avoid Anxiety and Stress, But There Are Some Ways To Limit Them.
Stress has basically become second nature to college students. From biting your nails, to tossing and turning in bed, to just not being able to focus because there is so much on your plate. Stress can absolutely ruin your life if you don’t have a way to manage it.

Take care of your body.
Making sure you get enough sleep is one of the best ways to stay calm during stressful times. When your sleep schedule is disrupted and you lose rest, problems often feel much more overwhelming than they really are. Try to shoot for 7-9 hours of sleep each night and see how much of a difference that makes.
Another tip is to eat healthy, stay hydrated, and get enough exercise. If your body feels right and is taken care of properly that is a great start to feeling less stressed. Once you finish a workout or a walk your body can feel so much more accomplished. The small wins everyday add up!
Have a routine.
Having a routine allows for your life to flow smoothly with less thought. Figuring out what to do next can allow unnecessary stress to come into your life. However, if you have a plan or a routine, then you can stick to it and allow yourself to get more work done. If you don’t have a routine, you might push off important things until the last minute and it can cause you to stress and lose sleep.

Limit distractions.
It is perfectly fine to log off of social media for a bit every once in a while. Hitting the “Do Not Disturb” button on your phone can be a great way to block out all of the distractions when you are trying to study or get some work done. As a college student, your phone is blowing up from people texting you or just getting notifications 24/7. This leads to you getting on your phone and scrolling for an hour when you should’ve been working on much more important things.
In the upcoming days when you are cramming for finals and feel severely stressed, try some of these techniques and see if they work for you! Try new things until you feel comfortable, and everything will work out at the end of the day!
Be Well, Auburn.
