Adventures Await: Auburn Outdoors for the 2024-2025 School Year

Auburn Outdoors has had an incredible year filled with exciting adventures. From swamp canoe camping at Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge to rock climbing at Foster Falls and Cherokee Rock Village, the experiences have been diverse. Additionally, there has been mountain biking at Standing Boy Mountain, hiking in Chewacla State Park, and exploring the shores of Lake Martin. Backpacking in Conecuh National Forest, skiing in North Carolina, and ice skating in Montgomery have also been part of the fun.


In total, Auburn Outdoors has completed all these adventures for the 2024-2025 school year.


Workshops and Skill Development


Alongside these adventures, Auburn Outdoors has hosted numerous workshops. Some of these include:


  • Lead Climbing

  • Backcountry Cuisine

  • Fundamentals of Rock Climbing and Setting a Rock Wall

  • How to Fix a Flat Tire

  • How to Tie a Fly

  • Crate Stacking


These workshops are designed to enhance skills and provide valuable knowledge for outdoor enthusiasts.


Engaging Students in the Outdoors


Throughout this year, Auburn Outdoors has guided roughly 200 students in their outdoor excursions. In addition, they have successfully taught over 1,000 students across various workshops during the 2024-2025 academic year.

The goal is to get everyone outside, allowing them to touch grass and appreciate the beauty of nature. In the spring, several groups ventured into the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. They paddled through serene waters, surrounded by breathtaking views of the swamp. Participants enjoyed the tranquility of nature while learning canoeing techniques from experienced instructors.


Later in the summer, students faced the vertical challenge of rock climbing. At Foster Falls and Cherokee Rock Village, they learned crucial climbing skills. Instructors provided guidance on safety and climbing techniques, allowing everyone to gain confidence in a supportive environment.
