Participants must meet the activity requirements for the trip they are registered for. All meals and snacks will be provided as soon as you check in for your program. If you have non-perishable, personal snacks you would like to bring to help you feel more comfortable, bring them with you. We encourage you to contact us to let us know you’ll be bringing additional snacks, so that we can prepare together how they will be carried and kept while on the trip.

Auburn Outdoors reserves the right to cancel a trip or program due to inclement weather, natural disasters, or extenuating circumstances. In the event a trip or program must be cancelled by Auburn Outdoors, a full refund will be issued to all registered participants.  Cancellations for a WEW trip by a participant received after full payment will not receive a refund of any funds.

Participants are required to record all prescription medications on their Auburn Outdoors Participant Profile. This includes EpiPens and asthma inhalers. Bring all prescribed medication with you, take it as prescribed while on trip, and keep it accessible. If you begin a new medication or stop taking a previous medication after filling out your Participant Profile, please reach out to us at auburnoutdoors@auburn.edu.(mailto:auburnoutdoors@auburn.edu)

We provide transportation to the trip destination, travel while on trip, and the return trip to Auburn.

A waitlist will be created from the lottery registration. If a spot opens for a trip because a participant cancels, Auburn Outdoors will contact the first person on the waitlist via email to fill the spot. Each person contacted has 24 hours to respond before contacting the next person on the waitlist. To be moved from the waitlist and become a registered trip participant, you must respond via email and pay the trip cost. Once paid, the participant will be placed on the trip roster.

The duration of each War Eagle Wilderness (WEW) trip varies depending on the location and activities. Please check the specific trip itinerary for exact start and end times.

Auburn Outdoors will communicate with you exclusively through your Auburn University (@auburn.edu) email address for all War Eagle Wilderness trips. It is your responsibility to monitor your @auburn.edu account. All participants must meet the eligibility requirements outlined by Auburn Outdoors for WEW Trips as well as the activity requirements for the specific WEW Trip. It is the participant’s responsibility to review eligibility requirements for WEW and activity requirements for the itinerary for the trip that they are interested in prior to registration. The health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority. AO will work with each student that is seeking accommodation for activities. However, we will not be able to provide accommodations if it significantly alters the nature of the program activity, jeopardizes the health and safety of WEW participants and/or staff, or places an undie administrative or financial burden on Auburn Outdoors or Auburn University. Requests for accommodation must be submitted in writing to Auburn Outdoors via email at auburnoutdoors@auburn.edu (mailto:auburnoutdoors@auburn.edu)at least 1 month prior to a scheduled WEW trip. Requests are not guaranteed.

Please include all information regarding your food allergy on your Auburn Outdoors Program Participant Profile. We may reach out with additional questions as we plan the menu for your WEW trip. Your experience is important to us. If the food allergy is not listed on your Auburn Outdoors Program Participant Profile, it will not be accommodated for your trip.

Auburn Outdoors provides trip-related gear such as boats, tents, sleeping bags, etc. Trip participants are responsible for providing personal clothing. Don’t worry – we’ll provide a suggested packing list for each trip ahead of time.

CWE provides housing the night before a Camp War Eagle Session in the student residence halls. Please communicate your need for housing prior to a CWE Session with CWE.

War Eagle Wilderness trips are drug, alcohol, weapons, and tobacco-free/e-cigs-free/vape-free environments. Any participant found in violation of these rules may be removed from the program with no refund and will be subject to Auburn University conduct violations / rules and regulations. Cell Phones or personal electronics such as smart watches and speakers are the responsibility of the person that brings them. Auburn Outdoors highly encourages you to leave your devices in the front country. Doing so will help you disconnect to connect with the natural world and your peers on your WEW Trip. Auburn Outdoors will provide a packing list for each WEW Trip for essential and suggested items.

Keeping you fueled for your adventure at WEW is important to us. Your specific menu will vary based on the trip you register for. Some things we love are: Breakfast • Cereal • Yogurt • Oatmeal • Pancakes and French toast Lunch • Wraps • Gyros Dinner • Pasta • Fancy ramen • Stir fry • Tacos • Snacks and Drinks • Fruit • Veggies • Trail mix • Crackers and cookies • Coffee • Water • Hot Chocolate

We may reach out with additional questions as we plan the menu for your WEW Trip as your experience is important to us. We will do our best to make a plan, together, that meets your needs. If the restriction is not listed on your Auburn Outdoors Program Participant Profile, it will not be accommodated for your trip.

Each WEW trip has a different itinerary with different sleeping and bathroom accommodations. • Paddle Cahaba: Flushing toilets and running water for the duration of the trip. • Backpack PMT: Flushing toilets and running water Friday night at Auburn University housing. No running water or toilets Saturday night while backpacking. Your guides will teach you how to use the bathroom in the backcountry while on the trip. • Raft Ocoee: Flushing toilets and running water for the duration of the trip. • Zip-line Banning Mills: Flushing toilets and running water for the duration of the trip.

Auburn Outdoors’ Student Trip Leaders and Professional Team Members guide WEW trips. Our goal is to connect first year students to their peers in a wilderness setting to build strong connections to Auburn University. Students are taught leadership skills and activity skills for all activities that they are guiding. All guides are CPR and Wilderness First Aid trained. At least one Wilderness First Responder attends each WEW Trip.
