Campus Recreation and Health Promotion and Wellness Merge

In an exciting move aimed at enhancing the overall well-being and fitness opportunities for students, faculty, and staff, Auburn University has announced the merger of two of its departments: Campus Recreation and Health Promotion and Wellness. Effective immediately, the newly formed entity will be known as Auburn University Recreation and Wellness.


This merger represents Auburn University's commitment to providing a holistic approach to health and wellness on campus. By integrating recreational activities and health promotion initiatives, the university aims to create a unified and comprehensive program that supports the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of its community members.


Speaking about the merger, Executive Director Eric Smith, expressed his enthusiasm and shared the vision behind this strategic move: "We are thrilled to announce the merger of Auburn University Campus Recreation and Health Promotion and Wellness. This union allows us to combine our resources and expertise, creating an environment where students, faculty, and staff can flourish holistically. Our goal is to foster a culture of wellness, encouraging lifelong habits that will positively impact the Auburn University community."


The integration will bring together a wide array of programs and services designed to promote a healthy and active lifestyle within the campus community. These offerings include state-of-the-art fitness facilities, group exercise classes, intramural sports, outdoor adventure activities, educational workshops, nutrition services, alcohol and drug use, healthy relationships, and other programs focused on mental health and well-being. The consolidation is expected to streamline operations, optimize resources, and provide a more seamless experience for Auburn University students, faculty, and staff.


Auburn University Recreation and Wellness will continue to collaborate with other campus organizations, academic departments, and community partners to expand their reach and impact. By engaging in cross-disciplinary initiatives and embracing a holistic approach, the newly formed entity seeks to empower individuals to lead healthy, active, and balanced lives.
