On the night of January 21, students braved the cold and gathered at the pool for The Rec’s annual Polar Plunge! After jumping into the icy water, participants warmed up in the hot tub while enjoying coffee, hot chocolate, sweet treats, and a well-earned free beanie.
What made this year’s Polar Plunge especially meaningful was the addition of a fundraiser hosted by The Rec’s Marketing Team in support of Lee County Special Olympics. Earlier that morning, the team set up tables in front of The Rec stocked with old shirts and hoodies. Throughout the day, students could make a donation of any size and pick out a piece of Rec merch to take home.
Between the day-long fundraiser and additional donations collected during the Polar Plunge, around $800 was raised for a great local cause.
Auburn truly was freezing for a reason.
