When spring rolls around, we all feel that itch to declutter, whether that be our closets, our desks, or maybe even the random junk drawer we’ve been ignoring since syllabus week…in August. But spring cleaning isn’t just about your space. It’s also the perfect time to refresh your well-being and reset some of your daily habits. Think of this season as a chance to clear out what’s no longer serving you and make room for routines that help you feel more energized, focused, and balanced. Here are a few simple ways to “spring clean” your well-being…no mop required.

Clean Up Your Snacks

Between classes, meetings, and late-night study sessions, it’s easy to grab whatever snack is closest. While there’s nothing wrong with enjoying your favorites, spring is a great time to add in options that help you feel fueled rather than sluggish. Consider “cleaning out” overly processed snacks and swapping in choices that keep you full and energized. Think fresh fruit, trail mix, yogurt, hummus with veggies, or protein bars with simple ingredients. Planning ahead by packing snacks can also help you avoid long gaps between meals, keeping your energy steady throughout the day. My personal favorite is an apple with peanut butter and mini dark chocolate chips!

Winding Down Before Bed

Longer days and warmer nights can throw off your sleep routine, especially when screens and late-night scrolling sneak in. Spring is the perfect time to “clean up” your nighttime habits and create a wind-down routine that helps you actually rest. You can always put on the screen-time setting option on your phone, but let’s be real, we all snooze that notification. Try setting a consistent bedtime, limiting screen time 30–60 minutes before sleep, and replacing it with calming activities like reading, stretching, journaling, or listening to music. Quality sleep supports everything, from mood and focus to physical performance, so consider it a key part of your spring wellness refresh.

Move Your Body, Calm Your Mind

Sometimes the best way to hit “reset” is by moving your body in a mindful way. Head to the Rec and try a yoga, pilates, barre, or ballet class! These gentle, focused workouts aren’t just great for your muscles; they’re powerful for your brain too. Stretching, breathing exercises, and flowing movements help release tension, clear mental clutter, and leave you feeling grounded and refreshed. Even a short session from one of the shorter, 30-45 minute classes can improve mood and energy levels for the rest of your day. And don’t forget, all group fitness classes are forever free!

Take A Walk and Soak Up The Season

Spring is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the campus scenery. Take a stroll between classes, around the Rec, or along your favorite paths to soak up the sunshine and fresh air. Walking not only gets your body moving but also gives your brain a chance to reset. Paying attention to the sights, sounds, and smells of the season can boost your mood, reduce stress, and help you feel more connected to your surroundings. Even just 10–15 minutes of mindful walking can leave you feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of your day.

Spring cleaning your well-being is all about making space for habits that help you feel your best.
