An Auburn Student's Experience with Intramural Sports

I had never really given intramural sports a thought before coming to Auburn. Sports had always been in my day to day routine and I did not realize how much they regulated my school schedule. Growing up I played volleyball from seventh grade until graduation. Sports was the way I connected with my friends, met new girls, and stayed active. After starting classes my freshman year, I quickly realized my schedule felt empty and was presented with the chance to join my Sorority’s 7 vs. 7 Flag Football league. I have played 3 seasons of Sorority Flag, 1 Co-Rec Flag Season, 2 Sorority Volleyball seasons, and 1 Sorority Sand Volleyball Season, competing in 4 championship games. Meeting people that I had things in common with and creating new friendships in a completely new place has made playing intramurals totally worth it.

Why you should do intramural sports:

Apart from meeting new people during your time here at Auburn, getting active is a good reason to sign yourself up for intramural sports. Sports can be a fun way to get active. The good thing about IMLeagues is that you can choose what you are interested in even if you have never played a sport on the list. Intramural sports are about showing up, making connections, and most importantly having fun.
