The Perfect Protein Ball Recipe

Are you searching for the perfect everyday snack? Something that actually tastes good but still leaves you feeling energized, not weighed down? These protein balls are the ideal grab-and-go option for busy class days or a quick pre-workout boost. And the best part? They’re incredibly simple to make with just a few ingredients. No baking required, minimal prep time, and perfect to make ahead for the week.

Finding snacks that are both convenient and nourishing can be a challenge, especially with a packed schedule. Between classes, workouts, and everything in between, it’s easy to reach for whatever is quickest, even if it doesn’t leave you feeling your best. That’s why these protein balls are such a go-to. They’re easy to make, easy to store, and give you a balanced mix of energy to keep you going throughout the day.

What You’ll Need

  • 2 ½ cups of Old Fashioned Oats

  • 1 cup Creamy Peanut Butter

  • 2 scoops Vanilla Protein Powder

  • ½ cup Honey or Maple Syrup

  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

  • A pinch of salt

  • ½ cup of Mini Chocolate Chips (optional)

Baking ingredients on a kitchen counter: Quaker Oats, honey, protein powder, peanut butter, vanilla extract, Cadbury mini eggs, pink measuring cups, and a bowl.

Where To Start

Start by grabbing a large bowl, all your ingredients, and your measuring cups. Add everything into the bowl and begin mixing until fully combined. It might take a minute, but keep going until the texture is thick and evenly blended.

Once everything is mixed, place the bowl in the fridge for 5-10 minutes. This step makes rolling them so much easier.

After chilling, scoop small portions into your hand and begin rolling into bite-sized balls. Place them on a plate or in a container as you go. If the mixture starts to stick to your hands, lightly wet your hands to make rolling easier.

Store them in the fridge and enjoy throughout the week whenever you need a quick, energizing snack.

Make It Your Own

This recipe is one of my favorites because it is a very “choose your own adventure” kind of recipe. Prefer a creamier texture? Add a little more peanut butter and reduce the oats. Want to keep things on the lighter side? Skip the chocolate chips or swap them for something like chia seeds or coconut flakes.

You can also switch things up based on your cravings. For example, I recently crushed up Cadbury Mini Eggs and mixed them in for a fun, seasonal twist instead of chocolate chips. It’s an easy way to keep this recipe feeling new every time you make it.

Whether you’re heading to class, hitting the gym, or just need something quick between activities, these protein balls are the perfect snack to have on hand. Try making a batch this week and keep them in your fridge for whenever you need a quick boost. Your future self will thank you!

Be Well, Auburn.
